Schools Out

Schools Out is a series of day trips for disabled children and children (4-11 years) living in deprivation, who attend schools with high pupil premium rates.

Schools Out days give these children the opportunity to enjoy, explore and engage in the world around them, and be what children should be; carefree.

Are you a school that wants to take part in Schools Out days?

If you're a school with schools with high pupil premium rates you may be eligible for support from Yorkshire Children's Charity. Check out out Find Help section to see what's available and how to sign up your school.

An opportunity to engage in the world around them

The opportunity to engage in the world around them, seeing and experiencing new things, is hugely beneficial for children’s development. Research suggests positive experiences during key ‘sensitive periods’ of early childhood and adolescence help build healthy brains. As the Children’s Commissioner (2022) reported, the chance for play and fun in childhood supports the development of children’s mental health, physical health and creativity.

Expanding everyone's horizons

Secondly, Schools Out events play an important role in expanding our beneficiaries’ horizons and giving them access to experiences, places and spaces they would not otherwise get a chance to explore. Our families are struggling to cover the basic essentials right now (heating, clothing, food, shelter), let alone taking their children out for the day.

Our Supporters

Through sponsorship, fundraising, volunteering and donations; our supporters make amazing things happen. We literally couldn't have done this without their help.

Are you interested in helping makes things better?

If you want to make things better, you can. Donations of money is always great; but we also need volunteers to help out; or people willing to donate valuable skills from PPC to plastering.
