Our Project Work

Great Yorkshire Build

This scheme helps us to deliver state-of-the-art school facilities, creating environments where staff feel re-energised to teach and children are excited to learn

The School Network

We encourage our volunteers to ‘GO MAD’ (Go Out And Make A Difference). It is through The School Network that we learn where to direct our resource.

School's Out

Our School's Out events can’t cure or take away a child's worries. But they can - and do - provide much-needed respite for young people and their families.

Our Grant Giving Programmes

Grants

Every child needs to be comfortable and supported in their environment in order to reach their own, unique potential. To nurture this, specialist equipment is vital.

Wheelchairs

A wheelchair offers lifechanging benefits: independence, liberation, and the opportunity for children and young people to engage with the world around them.

A Helping Hand for Families

Yorkshire Children’s Charity provide grants to help cover both the niceties and the necessities that come with having children.

With your support, we make things better.

About Us

We are a new charity. But we come with a huge amount of experience, a big heart, and the chance for those who work with and support us to have a real say in the way we write the future.

Yorkshire Children’s Charity doesn’t solely provide financial help. We also offer friendship, and can be there to help you with the changing needs of your child as they grow up.

Care is the foundation of our organisation and runs through every part of our work. We care deeply for our beneficiaries and their families, and for the schools and communities we support.

We care that we meet the expectations of our supporters and spend the money we raise responsibly. And we care that we build a legacy that will benefit generations of children to come.

We understand that, sometimes, everyone needs a helping hand. Whether you’re in need of a wheelchair, specialist equipment or a monetary grant, turn to us – and we commit to doing all we can to help you.

When life is hard, or even feels impossible, we give you the support you need to make things better.

Our Mission

At Yorkshire Children’s Charity, we transform childhoods to make things better for the thousands of disadvantaged children in our region. We want to make sure no child or young person in Yorkshire is left behind due to ill health, disability, or financial circumstance. So we work hard to give young people a fair chance: a chance to live an inclusive life, full of opportunities to explore, where they can engage in the world around them. We help children be who they want to be and get where they want to go. This is why we exist, and we won’t stop until we succeed.

Our Vision

We will reach every child in Yorkshire who needs our help and make childhood poverty a thing of the past.

Our work must be fun. We want to give all children and young people the chance to be their best, and make life more manageable for those who struggle. Being young is all about having fun, and happy children are the vital outcome to our work.

We will reach every child in Yorkshire who needs our help

Our Values

It’s a privilege to be able to make a difference to those who need our help. We never take that for granted, and our strong values drive and guide everything we do.

With an honest, hardworking approach, we provide consistent care and kindness to help every child, no matter their background, find happiness and achieve their potential.

Accessible

It’s crucial that we are easily accessible to our beneficiaries and their families, to our supporters (young and old), and to our schools and communities. Most of all, we want the world to be accessible to the children and young people we support.

Focused

Our focus, first and foremost, is the children we support. They are the driving factor in every decision we make, and we only adopt practices that are in their best interests. We will never lose sight of the struggles they face and the responsibility we are entrusted with to make a difference.

Genuine

We are honest and transparent with our donors about how and where their money is spent. Our values, behaviour and beliefs govern our everyday work and are consistent throughout our organisation.

Caring

Care is at the heart of our organisation and across all aspects of our work. We care for our beneficiaries, their families, and the communities we support. We care that we meet the expectations of our sponsors and supporters, and spend the money we raise responsibly, meaningfully and efficiently. We care that we build a legacy that will benefit generations of children to come.

Measurable

Our work is measurable, and we can tangibly demonstrate the difference we make. We understand the communities we operate in and the struggles our families face. We tackle these issues head on and don’t stop trying until we’ve changed a life.

Beneficiary First

We passionately believe that our beneficiaries must always come first. They are at the heart of every decision we make and form the very essence of our organisation. All children, regardless of ability or circumstance, have the right to fulfil their own unique potential.

Fun

Our work must be fun. We want to give all children and young people the chance to be their best, and make life more manageable for those who struggle. Being young is all about having fun, and happy children are the vital outcome to our work.

Who we work with

Here are some of the generous, kind, considerate and hardworking companies we work with.

Meet the Team

We’re a new charity with a fresh approach. Yet we’re led by a team who’ve spent years working with not for profits to change the lives of disadvantaged children. Together, we raise funds, plan events, and connect people who share our dedication to making the world a better place for the young people of Yorkshire.

Charlotte Farrington

CEO

My background is in the corporate world. Yet ten years ago, I was offered the opportunity to work for a children’s charity. I can safely say I’ve never looked back. I never take my position for granted. It’s a privilege to be able to make a real difference to the lives of vulnerable children and gain insight into the struggles our families face. Hands down, I have the best job.

Annabel Robinson

Head of events

I feel incredibly lucky to work in an industry where I can channel my interests to provide guests with a fantastic experience, while knowing I have a very meaningful and worthy cause at the forefront of everything I do. I’m proud that my skills and passion for bringing people together can help so many families across our region, and provide children with the opportunities that all young people deserve.

Lizzie Fee

Head of Ambassador Relations

I am delighted to have joined the incredible team at YCC to drive forward Ambassador Relations and develop our work with high profile supporters. After many years of engaging artists and celebrities for charities in London, I feel incredibly fortunate to have returned home to Yorkshire and be working to help children in our region who are facing unimaginable challenges. It is a privilege to work with such an impassioned team knowing we are making a difference to children and young people who really need our help.

Georgia Hanson

Trusts & foundations Manager

My background in public sector bidding has led me to this incredibly exciting role where I get to tell the story of who we are and all the brilliant things we’re doing. It’s a real blessing to work with generous grant-makers and in a team who, above everything, want to do right by children in Yorkshire. Yorkshire is my home, so I will always be proud to champion our mission that no child or young person in Yorkshire is left behind because of their health, disability, social or economic circumstance.

Georgie Baxter

events executive

I am beyond thrilled to join Yorkshire Children’s Charity as the new Events Executive! It fills me with pride to be a member of an organisation that is devoted to making a meaningful difference in the lives of disadvantaged children throughout Yorkshire. The team here are incredibly passionate and I consider myself fortunate to have the opportunity to work alongside such dedicated individuals. I’m eager to create unforgettable events and build upon those that are already a great success, that not only bring joy and smiles but also support those in need.

Georgia Hall

programmes assistant

Having always wanted to work in the non-profit sector, I couldn’t think of a better place to be. I feel very fortunate to be part of an organisation that steps forward to help families where no one else would have. In my role I work very closely with our team and corporate partners and I am always moved by the generosity and drive demonstrated when it comes to helping those most in need.
