About us

We are a charity with a wealth of experience, a big heart, and the opportunity for those who work with and support us to have a real say in shaping the future.

Yorkshire Children’s Charity doesn’t solely provide financial help. We also offer friendship and support, assisting you with the changing needs of your child as they grow up.

A legacy for us, a future for them

Care is the foundation of our organisation and permeates every aspect of our work. We care deeply for our beneficiaries and their families, as well as the schools and communities we support. We care about meeting the expectations of our supporters and ensuring that the funds we raise are spent responsibly. And we are committed to building a legacy that will benefit generations of children to come.

Support you need

We understand that, at times, everyone needs a helping hand. Whether you’re in need of a wheelchair, specialist equipment, or a monetary grant, turn to us – and we promise to do all we can to help you. When life is hard, or even feels impossible, we provide the support you need to make things better.

Our Values

It’s a privilege to be able to make a difference to those who need our help. We never take that for granted, and our strong values drive and guide everything we do.

Accessible

It’s crucial that we are easily accessible to our beneficiaries and their families, to our supporters (young and old), and to our schools and communities. Most of all, we want the world to be accessible to the children and young people we support.

Focused

Our focus, first and foremost, is the children we support. They are the driving factor in every decision we make, and we only adopt practices that are in their best interests. We will never lose sight of the struggles they face and the responsibility we are entrusted with to make a difference.

Genuine

We are honest and transparent with our donors about how and where their money is spent. Our values, behaviour and beliefs govern our everyday work and are consistent throughout our organisation.

Caring

Care is at the heart of our organisation and across all aspects of our work. We care for our beneficiaries, their families, and the communities we support. We care that we meet the expectations of our sponsors and supporters, and spend the money we raise responsibly, meaningfully and efficiently. We care that we build a legacy that will benefit generations of children to come.

Measurable

Our work is measurable, and we can tangibly demonstrate the difference we make. We understand the communities we operate in and the struggles our families face. We tackle these issues head on and don’t stop trying until we’ve changed a life.

Beneficiary First

We passionately believe that our beneficiaries must always come first. They are at the heart of every decision we make and form the very essence of our organisation. All children, regardless of ability or circumstance, have the right to fulfil their own unique potential.

Fun

Our work must be fun. We want to give all children and young people the chance to be their best, and make life more manageable for those who struggle. Being young is all about having fun, and happy children are the vital outcome to our work.

Charlotte

Charlotte Farrington, CEO

My background is in the corporate world. Yet ten years ago, I was offered the opportunity to work for a children’s charity. I can safely say I’ve never looked back. I never take my position for granted. It’s a privilege to be able to make a real difference to the lives of vulnerable children and gain insight into the struggles our families face. Hands down, I have the best job. When life is hard, or even feels impossible, we provide the support you need to make things better.

Are you interested in helping make things better?

If you want to make things better, you can. Donations of money is always great; but we also need volunteers to help out; or people willing to donate valuable skills from PPC to plastering.
