All team members must sign this disclaimer to ensure all participants are properly briefed and that they comply with the shoot rules on the day.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
You confirm your understanding and acceptance that Clay Pigeon Shooting is an inherently dangerous sport. In the interest of safety and wellbeing, it is the policy of The Yorkshire Clay Shoot that everyone attending this event will, at all times, wear some form of the following
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):
- Head protection; which includes any type of hat
- Eye protection; which includes safety glasses, prescription lenses or sun glasses, to be worn over the eyes at all times
- Hearing protection, to be worn at all times


PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN PPE. Spare protective equipment will be provided on the day if necessary, at an additional cost to the Charity. If these are used, please return prior to leaving the event.


Gun Safety (Essential Reading)
Only Break-barrel guns are allowed; they must be unloaded, broken or in sleeves unless on the firing point and pointed down-range when on the firing point. All shooters and loaders must empty all pockets before tipping in fresh boxes of cartridges. 12/20 bore cartridge accidents do happen when loaders and guns are distracted.

Mobile phones must be switched off when at the firing stands, even if you’re not at the firing point. There must be no shooting behind the firing point.


No alcohol allowed on the shooting ground.

Anyone suspected of being under the influence of alcohol will not be allowed to shoot. Guns must not be left on site or in cars overnight. You must stop firing and break your gun at the sound of the whistle. Shooting will not recommence until the safety whistle is blown giving the all clear.



Shotgun Certificates
It is a legal requirement that at least one member of your team is in possession of a valid Shotgun Certificate on the shoot day. This must be presented at the registration desk on arrival. Anyone bringing their own guns must carry a valid Shotgun Certificate. All Shotgun Certificate holders in your team must bring their certificates with them to the shoot, as required by law. ALL CARTRIDGES WILL BE PROVIDED ON THE DAY.

Section 21 of the Firearms Act 1968
It is an offence for someone who is prohibited by Section 21 to have a firearm or ammunition in his or her possession at any time. Section 21 applies to anybody who has been sentenced to imprisonment or to youth custody or detention in a young offenders’ institution for three months or more. The period for which they are prohibited depends on the length of their sentence, if the sentence was longer than three years the prohibition is for life. If the sentence was three months or more but less than three years, the prohibition lasts for five years from the date of their release. It is an offence for a person to transfer, let or hire, give or lend a firearm or ammunition.
